Servicing and Repairs

Servicing and Repairs

Our experienced engineers complete hundreds of services every year on all sorts of kilns and pottery equipment.

Servicing includes comprehensive checking and testing of all the main components to ensure the integrity, quality and safety of the equipment.

A servicing certificate will be issued on completion, detailing all findings and any advisories.

As an overview, for a kiln, this includes:

    • Frame, case, lid, interlock and switches
    • Elements
    • Brickwork
    • Contactor and relays
    • Controller/indicator/kiln sitter
    • Energy regulator
    • Internal wiring, tail wires and connectors
    • Thermocouple and compensating cable
    • Bungs and auto dampers
    • Ventilation and Health & Safety

It is recommended educational and studio kilns and equipment are serviced annually. The length of time elapsed between servicing for hobby ceramists’ equipment varies, usually based on usage. As a gauge, we recommend every 2 years.

We also make call out visits to broken down kilns and wheels and those not behaving as they should! Please see our kiln trouble shooting page for help with indications of maintenance requirements.
